Measuring Body Fat – The Body Adiposity Index (BAI).

The body adiposity index is a good way of understanding the amount of body fat in your body. The main focus when looking at our weight is the amount of body fat that is stored. High levels of fat increases the likelihood of developing heath issues such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol which can lead to heart disease and stroke. Muscle is roughly 18% more dense than fat meaning that muscle occupies less space than fat. This is why having a full body weight training programme is an important part to keeping your body fit as it is the most effective way to build and maintain muscle mass which naturally decreases as humans age without weight training. The body adiposity index measures the waist with the persons height which gives a good insight into whether your body fat levels are healthy.
